A key finding in the FCA’s Delegated Authority Thematic review was that insurance companies needed appropriate systems and controls in place to manage their delegated authorities. We agreed, and looked to embrace technology to help us to work smarter in proving to our regulator that we are doing what we say we are going to do when it comes to making sure our customers are treated well. When we started looking in 2015, there was nothing available in the market that met our exacting needs. An interactive and multi-access portal like Conect simply didn’t exist in the insurance market. After investigating a number of standard IT solutions – none of which suited the project – we talked with the Albany Group, who said they would be able to help with a bespoke-build. The first of its kind in the insurance world, the Conect Portal has allowed us to create a truly global network with our claims partners, while proving to our regulator that we are ensuring good customer outcomes across the world. With a clear idea of what we wanted and how it needed to work, we collaborated with Albany Group who took just eight weeks to bring the Conect Portal to life.
